Lexia Core5 Reading

The adaptive program many schools use, from letter sounds to Greek combining forms.

AppPre-K to 5th grade

Our take

Adaptive software across 21 levels that reaches syllable types, affixes and Greek combining forms by its upper levels. When a student struggles it steps from practice to scaffolded to explicit teaching and flags the skill for the teacher. Students do not read aloud to the program; fluency work is silent. Most children get it through school, but families can buy a home licence through Lexia's reseller.

A good fit for

  • K–5 children who need the whole ladder in one self-running program
  • Children whose school already licenses it

Look elsewhere if

  • Children who need someone to hear them read aloud
  • Android tablets (not supported)

  • Older Lexia materials call high-frequency words "sight words"; since 2024 the program marks their sound-spellings and irregular parts.
